Update 2: Progress!

I have another update and Brushie is looking super cute! His head is coming along, and his body has a little more mass added to it, though the shape isn't quite formed yet. His tail has been started, too!
The proportions of the head are much closer to what I wanted, at this point, and you can see the start of his ears!

Here are some pictures of the progress:

You can see that she made his head bigger, and that he has a little bit of a belly now.

Here is a closeup of his face- the proportions are much closer to my drawing now!

All the shapes look really nice! His ears have been added, and you can see his little tail, too.

Things are looking great so far! I am really enjoying seeing his progress and I know he's going to look great when he's finished and cast in resin.

Thanks so much for looking!

Update 1: Beginning Brushie's Face

I'm so excited that I'm starting to see Brushie's face!
I have a couple of pictures from the sculptor, and he's looking pretty cute. This is just the beginning,
And he'll be smoothed out and evened up as things go along.
I requested that his forehead be made larger, and that the sculpting on his eyebrows be removed.
I really love how he is looking, though!
Here are the pics:

Thanks for looking!

What Makes a Puppy?

Things are just getting under way on Brushie!
The sculptor just sent me a photo of the very most basic pieces being formed.
It doesn't look like much, but it's exciting! Stay tuned as Brushie comes to life!

Brushie Concept Art

Here is some concept art of Brushie. It's just a doodle, but it's how I picture the final doll, painted with his fullset.
He will have a resin sailor hat, and I'm hoping to find someone to collaborate with to make his fullset outfit.

Introducing, Brushie!

I'd like to introduce Brushie. He is an adventurous puppy who is always getting into trouble, but is very loyal to his friends. He is a scrappy fellow, and generally leaps before he looks, but he means well.

Brushie is not one particular breed of dog, but is designed to look very much like a border terrier and a schnauzer, so he may well be a mix of these breeds.

I designed Brushie as the companion to a ship's captain. He might end up being a little pirate doggy.
In the story I wrote, he sacrificed himself for his captain, and he was loyal to the end. But this is a puppy version of that little character.

The doll itself will be jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips and will have removable eyes and a magnetic tail. He will be around 5 inches tall.

Here are the sketches that I sent to the sculptor:

The back

That's it for now! Hopefully you like him, and will join me in following his progress!

Basically a Test Post

Hello! My name is Kaitlyn, and I am working with a sculptor to turn my design into a ball-jointed doll.
I plan to journal the process here, so that people can see things as they progress, and maybe they will be interested in the little guy when he/she is finished.
